The Jinn on Ludlow

Dreemz and Co. opened their brand new Jinn Gallery last week.

The gallery opened on Ludlow Street (home of Max Fish, Katz Deli, and not to mention Childish Gambino one liners) and will undoubtedly live up the Lower East Side’s reputation for progressive artists.

Dreemz and Co., an artists/creative social media website was also, heavily promoted during the party. Joining the website is an really good way to stay “in the know” with all the happening in Dreemz and Co., and the art world in general.

I was welcomed by many friends (and not to mention alcohol) and things got pretty crazy 😉

I still managed to snag pictures of my favorite pieces in the gallery

Although it’s in its beginning stages, Jinn Gallery will definitely be a place for the young, emerging, and progressives of the art world. This will be a place for artists to not only display their talents for their friends, but for the whole world to see.

Be sure to give Jinn Gallery a visit next time your in the Lower East Side.

Beach Fossils @ Music Hall of Williamsburg 3/2/12

Captured Tracks took over Brooklyn for the second time in 3 months this past Friday.

You could barely move as Beach Fossils headlined a night of AMAZING music along with DIVE, Hoops Dreams, and Mac DeMarco.

DIVE started the show off and you couldn’t ask for a better opening act. Led by Beach Fossils’ Zachary Cole Smith (working double duty), the reverby vocals and guitar driven melodies of DIVE gave the audience a little taste of what was coming later.

Hoops Dreams followed and slowed down the pace a little. Playing their first show in the US since signing, Hoop Dreams is definitely one of the lesser known bands under the Captured Tracks label. They’re set was pretty solid for newbies on the scene. Check out their performance of “XCPR”

Another one of Captured Tracks newest acquisitions, Mac DeMarco was next to the stage. Great tunes of all kinds just seem effortless for Mac, and he seemed right at home on stage. His set seemed pretty short to me, or maybe it was just so awesome I wished it lasted longer. Here’s a song I’ve had on repeat for a little while now, and was happy to see it performed. Mac calls this one “Baby’s Wearing Blue Jeans”

Beach Fossils came out and everyone went bananas! Here’s some footage from the beginning of they’re set.

Now….around here is where some asshole security guard said I couldn’t get any footage of the band….and I was filming THE WHOLE TIME!!!!  Makes no sense, but I digress.

Beach Fossils can do no wrong in many of our eyes when it comes to their music. They performed 3 or 4 new songs including “Lessons”

The whole set was AMAZING but what made my night was  Jack Tatum waving at me right before they performed “Out in The Way” which I managed to get audio of (SCREW THAT SECURITY GUARD!)

All in all, a great night for indie music.

With an album scheduled for release later this year, I sure hope I get to see Beach Fossils again real soon!
